San Miguel is a destination that draws tourists from all over the world due to its important cultural events, such as the Sanmiguelada , which was inspired by Spain 's Pamplona Festival.
I first visited for Lilian & Victor wedding.
It all started with "Callejonada" which is basically walking around listening to Mariachis and...
and drinking a LOT!!!
The main church is beatiful both during the day and at night!

Sunday in TAXCO
Considered one of Mexico's most picturesque towns, this charming destination offers cobblestone streets, ..
colonial buildings and white houses with red tile roofs.
Another notable attraction of unparalleled beauty is the Catedral de Santa Prisca (Santa Prisca Cathedral).
The city is heavily associated with silver, both with the mining of it and other metals and for the crafting of it into jewelry, silverware and other items.
The city was named one of Mexico's “Pueblos Mágicos” (Magical Towns) ....
...due to the quality of the silverwork, the colonial constructions and the surrounding scenery.
Perfect for w-end or even one day - Sunday gateway.

PLAZA DE TORROS - Bullring Mexico City - Feb 09
The Plaza de Toros in Mexico City is the largest bullring in the world. It will hold 45,000 spectators.
We came perfectly equiped thanks to Argel!
The main season for bullfighting is the dry season, around November through March at Plaza México
I was delighted seeing the Matadors' costums and how they dare to perfom their acts.
I am not big fan of bull fights but it is good to see it once.

Xmas in ZOCALO
164-foot-high Christmas tree and the giant ice rink in Mexico City's Zocalo is back this year –- all 9,843 square feet of it.
City Mayor was not put off by criticism he received last year about the project, which he says provides winter entertainment for low-income families.
Detractors said that the ice rink -– which is free of charge -- was a waste of public funds in a country where so many people live below the poverty line.

Dia de Muertos - Nov 1st weekend
MEXICO CITY
ZOCALO - Day of the Dead - beautiful ritual in which Mexicans happily and lovingly remember their loved relatives that have died.
Many people believe that during the Day of the Dead, it is easier for the souls of the departed to visit the living. People will go to cemeteries to communicate with the souls of the departed, and will build private altars, containing the favorite foods and beverages, and photos and memorabilia, of the departed.
The intent is to encourage visits by the souls, so that the souls will hear the prayers and the comments of the living directed to them.
A common symbol of the holiday is the skull (colloquially called calavera ), which celebrants represent in masks , called calacas
I was trully impressed with the level of creativity as to what sceletons can do, wear, look like...
Traditions include building private altars honoring the deceased, using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts.
Modern version of Dia de Muertos - HALOWEEN
Friday night at PRE and PETRA
I wish I had a sceleton costume...instead I was a catwoman...
Thursday Ricardo's party - getting married with Mexican Luciador :-)
CHIAPAS - Oct w-end at Marimar's house
SAN JUAN CHAMULA
This small village 10 km out of San Cristobal is famous for its unique religious practices - one of them is drinking special kind of alcohol in the church.
Templo de San Juan is the main church. Inside there is thousands of candles, Saints along the walls are dressed in wholly garment..the whole experience is magical.
Taking photos inside the church is strictly forbidden (so I had to find them on internet and myself concentrated on taking once outside)
SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS
ARCO DEL EL CARMEN - dates from 17th century and was once the city's gateway.
Around it there is market with beautiful local craft.
Next to it there is wonderful colonial building with a large peacefully garden.
I loved the market and could not resist buying another 5 challs....
On the left: long pedestrian mall - Andador Turistico that goes from Arco del Carmen to the Templo de Santo Domingo.

Marimar's at her house with all the dogs: Bono, Chato, ....
Sept 15 - Independence Day - long weekend trip
OAXACA city
OAXACA was very well described by Lonely Planet as "relaxed but stimulating, remote but cosmopolitan"
Iglesia de Santo Domingo - most splendid of of Oaxaca's churches, with
Enjoying the colonial streets of Oaxaca and taking lots of colorful photos
Because of Independence Day the whole city was full decorated with Mexican flag and all kinds of red-white-green gadgets
OAXACA IS FAMOUS FOR SEVERAL THINGS:
1. First class museums, galleries and its consider to be Mexican Capital of modern art.
2. SHOPPING - the best handicrafts shopping in Mexico
3. MOLE NEGRO - pork in dark sauce of chilies, fruits, nuts, spices & CHOCOLATE! (this is what i am eating on the photo above) - Mercado 20 de Noviembre
4. CHAPULINES - grasshoppers - and yes I had to try this local specialty. Little ones fine, medium horrible...

SAN JOSE DEL PACIFICO
Half way between Oaxaca and Puerto Escondido is this small mountain village with population of 500 people,
out of which probably around 450 lives of selling famous for this region magic mushrooms!
the scenery is spectacular - the best place to stay is Cabanas y Restaurante Puesta del Sol
PUERTO ESCONDIDO
Known for surfers since before paved roads reached this part of Oaxaca
Actually in most parts paved roads are still not there - that is why we got stacked - good part is that there were about 12 surfers helping to push us out :-)
Long time I have not been to place soooo relaxed! Hammocks on every corner :-)
PLAYA ZICATELA - the main surf beach
2 days of doing nothing but waling along the beach, hanging in the hammocks and having michiladas
The evening on the bach was beautiful!
Last day we spent mainly in the hotel pool ...
...drinking a lot of Michiladas!

Another georgous sunset.
Dinner at BECCO Restaurant
and of course loooong night at BABY O Club
W-end in VALLE DE BRAVO
2 hours away from Mexico DF there is super nice place on the like, in the mountains - Valle de Bravo
We were lucky enough to get invited by Julio to his amazing house...
Valle is perfect place to lay down, relax and just do nothing...
nothing, except from posing for photos and drinking a beer in Jakuzzi
And when you have enough of doing nothing you can go water ski!
At night - after warm up at home we went to PILLA
There isn't really any other place to go, but who cares, its still great there!
June Saturday in XOCHIMILCO
I was not sure what to expect. Some people told me its a bit like Venice and Canals, some people told me its nothing like Venice at all...
I guess both were right in a way. Like in Venice there are canals, there are boats and there are some tourists....
Unlike Venice; its much less posh, more dirty, less cultural, but its much more drinking, dancing and MORE FUN!
The best way to enjoy Xochimilco is like Ana planned; organize big fun group, buy lots of BUZZ, bring music, get drunk and have fun!
We were about 30 people and that was probably the max the boat could fit.
After we were all bit dizzy we invited Mariachis and that is when the real party started!
The boat ride can go on as long as you want to.... i mean as long as you pay!!!
I highly recommend doing it if you have a spare day in DF. You need fun group to fully enjoy it though!
PLAYA DEL CARMEN - May W-end
Good thing was May is not high season so the beach was not that crowded.
Very relaxing....
My favorite place was Playa Mamitas and place called KOOL
At KOOL the DJ spins electronic music all day - which means I love it :-)
And these are some shots from our Hotel Pool - Fairmont MAYACOBA - they should buy them of me for their website :-)
With Mariachi on the street, and than in BLUE PARROTS and SANTADERA
MEXICO DF
Famous Mexican LUCIA LIBRE
Arena Mexico - Campionato Mundial de Parejas :-) My favourite: Mistico from Pachuca!
ZOCALO
Mariaci in Cafe ...

TEOTIHUACAN
This is the must-see attaction near DF; Mexico's biggest ancient city
Pyramid of the Sun and Moon as you can see atracts a looooot of toursits!
This lovely escape is only 50 km out of Mexico City.
Well diserved Mexican food after climbing all the pyraminds :-)
ACAPULCO - April W-end
Acapulco does not have great beaches so much better option is to hire a house with a pool and good view!
Which we did :-)
Sunset view from our house.
What Acapulco is famous for is night life. Here in CLASSICO club.
At 5 am the best are the TACOS in front of Classico...
So you have more energy to go to famous BABY O!!!!!
ZAPOTITlAN SALINAS - Semana Santa long w-end - March 2008
Trip was organized by Paul who owns traveling company "Bamba Experience"
The place is about 3,5 hours outside Mexico City - in the middle of nowhere.
And everywhere you look there are cactuses! Some of them more than 500 years old!
The place is not mentioned in Lonely Planet and there is almost no tourist which makes it even nicer.
There are cabins so for 10$ you can spend the night there and wake up having amazing view = cactuses everywhere!
And it is totally worth staying overnight for the amazing views of the sunset and cactuses in different light!
