CHICHICASTENANGO
We arrive on CHICKEN BUS quite early in the morning - the city still looked quite calm, but that was about to change!
Our fist day turned out to be the most amazing one! And the one I took most photos - over 500!!!
That day was the celebration of XXX - next to Semana Santa the most important celebration during the whole year!
It started with religious celebrations and was followed but local dancing.
The costumes of the dancers were absolutely breath-taking!
The local craft market is what Chichi is most knows for - and yes there is plenty to buy!
What I loved is that its not really for tourists but locals are equally interested and buying even more!
Later during the day we needed lunch break from the crowdes so we rested on the terrace - great view on the busy streats.
Some more amazing shots from that day. I acutally bought some staff to :-)
It was really hard to choose the best 20 photos out of over 500 i took that day!
The celebrations were going on the whole night! Including penty of fireworks and many drunk Guatemalans :-)
LAKE ATITLAN
This is lake Atitlan at 6 am - it has been long time since I have not been to such a peacefull place!
Blue sky, blue water, blue dress, blue T-Shirt.........just BLUE :-)
Lake sourranded by vulcanos - the view its unforgetable!
I do not need to mention how much photos we took in the evening....there were over 100 variations of the sunset that day :-)
PANACHEL
Panachel is small tonw on lake Atitlan we stayed. Small but at the same time the biggest one next to the lake.
Although touristy still remains cozy and pleasent.
Very nice botanic park within walking distance from Panachel.
AROUND LAKE ATITLAN
Not to miss is the boat trip around lake Atitlan that takes you to 3 small villages - each of its own kind!
This street was so small but at the same time so much happened while we were standing there for 10 min...
View typiucal for Guatemala: men watching footbal game and women working :-(
More great shots from the village.
What fascinates me always the most is the people - especially if its women on whose face you can read the histort of the village...
Last stop on the trip is tiny XXX.
ANTIGUA
Antigua is the colonial city sourranded by vulcanos. Its one of the biggest tourist centers in Guatemala.
I absolutely looooooooved the place! Happy, colorful, lively but at the same time not to crowded!
The clolonial architecture was beatiful! Perfect for takings happy photos.
There were photo oporutnities almost around every corner!
Antigua is full of amazing restaurants. One of my favorites were: XXX
PACAYA VULCANO
Vulcano Pacaya is one of the 33 Vulcanos in Guatemala but only on of X active once!
We long delibarated if to take the morning or late afternoon trip - the later one was the right choice.
RED in the dark lava and sunset over the sourranding vulcanos - the view was unreal....
You can get as close as you want to the active lava - ny the distance of 2 meters it gets bloody hot though!!!
