ST.TROPEZ
5 days in South of France

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • The hottest beach town in France which is also the ultimate see-and-be-seen spot in all of Europe!
  • The naughtiest beach parties in Europe with lots of flesh and Champagne showers!
  • The highest prices in Europe if not in the whole world!

I found this comment which sums it up really well: "St. Tropez parties late, which is to say all night long. it ' s common to buy a $400 bottle of Champagne and spray it over the crowd. The nighttime mix includes bankers from Milan , the odd Austrian prince, burned-out rock stars, American rappers, and nearly every beautiful young woman in France . The commonality? Money, beauty, or both. Given the right attitude, it ' s not actually hard to get into most clubs, but drinks are stunningly expensive—how about $30 for a beer?"

My version is: This is the place to party in style, to show off, to find rich men and hottest / shallowest women, to eat great food and drink a lot of champagne, to spend a lot of money, to get tan and really really tired towards the end!
If you are looking for a place to rest - this is NOT the right spot!

HOW TO GET THERE

The best is to fly to NICE and after there is no perfect option. You can choose from the following:

CAR
Definitely the best option is to rent a car and by the way you will need at least one car even if you live in center - all the Beach CLubs are 20 min away (without traffic)!!!
If you are in similar situation I was - all your friends are already there with a car - so pointless for you to rent another one for the whole stay, than you have the follwoing options:

BUS
You can take a bus f rom Nice Airport to St.Raphael where you will need to change for bus to St.Raphael
(total cost about 30 EUR, total time about 3,5 – 4 h)
There are only about 4 buses a day from Nice to St.Raphael
More info on www.transports.var.fr or 04 98 11 37 60 (Transported Beltrame)
In case you have to wait to long its better to take a taxi (28EUR) to Nice Train Station and from there you have trains to St.Raphael all the time.
From St.Raphael you can take direct bus to St.Tropez.
More info on www.transports.var.fr or 0825 000 650 (Transporte Sodertav)

TAXI
If you want to start spending even before you get to St.Tropez you can take a taxi – about 300EUR

WHEN TO GO

The best week time to go are 2 last weeks of July. That is when all the COOL people go. Before its a bit to quiet and August is to full and apparently the crowed is not that good any more. I would say a week is more than enough...not only for your health but also for the wallet!

WHERE TO STAY

Definitely the best option is to stay on a boat so you can avoid the traffic in town and make big entrance to all the beach clubs :-)
If you do not have that option there are plenty of posh hotels like HOTEL BYBLOS in the center or super elegant VILLA BELROSA with amazing view. They all cost a fortune though...
IF you rather spend your money on white leather beds in Nikki beach or bottles of crystal in Le Caves than I would recommend:HOTEL MEDITERANE - which is very affordable and super centrally located!

MY TIPS

I like to do different things and once I go with backpack and sleep in Backpackers Inn, and other time I drink Crystal in the best clubs. I enjoy both but I have to worn you that St.Tropez is the most posh, superficial and expensive place I have ever been to. And if you go there it should not be for sightseeing reasons but for partying, drinking and experiencing posh life. Therefore my tips for holidays in St.Tropez unlike Guatemala or Morocco will recommend THE BEST places - the expensive once and the once to be seen in! That is what St.Tropez really is about if you like it or not.

WEDNESDAY

Day

LE CLUB 55

Plage de Pampelonne
Ramatuelle
Tel. 33 4 94 55 55 55
www.leclub55.com

Not sure what time you arrive but I suggest you take the first day easy...believe me - it is going to get wiled!
That is why I recommend this famous lunch place on the beach. And lunch here takes several hours!

With a mix of French movie stars, Russian and Middle Eastern businessmen, and aristocratic young couples with children, Club 55 is often referred to as the Beverly Hills of beach clubs. Everyone seems to have the biggest sunglasses Gucci ever produced, a Louis Vuitton beach bag, and an impossibly expensive watch.
Its one of the most famous lunch places in St.Tropez so although quiet big it is always super crowded - book in advance! I loved the fish, the venue with all the trees giving shade and for people watching :-)

LE CLUB 55
Evening Evening in the OLD PORT

Take advantage of the fact you are rested and you have a lot of energy (that will not be the case by the end of your stay in St.Tropez) and take time to see the city, old port, take photos and do some shopping. Shops are opened till late. Have a drink and dinner in whatever place you like the most passing by.
THURSDAY
Day

TAHITI Beach Club

Plage de Pampelonne
Ramatuelle
Tel. 33 4 94 97 18 02
www.tahiti-beach.com

Not as crazy as the other beach clubs I will recommend for other days but therefore perfect for warming up! It is Long-running, exclusive, and expensive. The guests are more towards "mature" French showbiz types - More Steven Spielberg than Paris Hilton, the crowd is a mostly grown-up contingent of rich globetrotters . They have good music, restaurant area where you can have great lunch, and lot of orange color.

TAHITI BEACH CLUB

Evening

Dinner at SPOON Restaurant and drinks at Hotel BYBLOS
Avenue Paul Signac
St. Tropez
France 83990
Tel: 33 4 94 56 68 16

http://www.byblos.com/

The famous BYBLOS Hotel has two restaurants—this is the one you want to go to.
" Run by globe-trotting gastronaut Alain Ducasse and designed by the talented young star Patrick Jouin, this place pulls a very hip crowd who peck at the Mediterranean fusion cooking while perched on stools at high counters or lounging table side."
After the dinner go up for a drink enjoying pool lighten up.

BYBLOS HOTEL

Night

LE CAVES DU ROY Night Club
http://www.lescavesduroy.com/

If you do not want to spend a fortune I would leave going to Le Caves till Saturday but if you are in a party mode why not to start already on Thursday, especially if you already are in Byblos anyway :-)
LE CAVES is described as; glitzy, glamorous, flashbulb-popping celebrity-rich nightclub in the heart of the Hotel Byblos. If there ' s an institution that sums up why the French refer to St. Tropez as "St. Trop" ( trop means "too much"), it ' s this flashy, trashy nightclub that has been the nexus of the partying crowd since the 1970s. The wall-to-wall mirrors, electric palm trees, disco balls, and low banquettes hail from that decade, too, but they still attract the boldface names, the Botoxed beauties with silicone implants, and the playboys with big wallets. The crowd arrives ramped and ready to boogie to house, hip-hop, and the occasional bit of perplexing French rap. Since there ' s major face patrol at the door, look your best. And bring the AmEx Black Card. Open nightly midnight to 5 am.

FRIDAY
Day LA VOILE ROUGE Beach Club
Plage de Pampelonne
Ramatuelle
Tel. 33 4 94 79 84 34

If you ' ve never seen a group of five young women wearing nothing but spike heels and metallic bikini bottoms grinding together on tabletops, this infamously hedonistic beach club will change all that. Arrive pretanned and with at least two different "dry" outfits (one for lunch and another for lounging after a swim and a shower). Plenty of nudity and sexy high jinks earn this place an NC-17 rating.

LA VOILE ROUGE
Evening

JOSEPH L'ESCALE Restaurant
9 Quai Jean Jaurès
St. Tropez

Website

High-rise yachts dock side-by-side along the glittering St. Tropez port as bronzed bombshells in white linen stroll into one of the hottest restaurants in town. . The food ' s delicious: The fish soup is so potent that the taste of the Mediterranean will stick with you for the rest of your life; giant grilled shrimp are so fresh they pop when you bite them. Its perfect for people watching thanks to huge windows. Its beautiful inside and it attracts beautiful crowed. This Seafood place is Open daily noon to 1 am. Attention: you will definitely get confused as there are 6 restaurant in the Old Port called JOSEPH - make sure you end up in L'ESCALE as it is the best one!
Also - book in advance - otherwise you will need to bribe to get a table...

Night

VIP Night club
Résidence du Nouveau Port
St. Tropez
France 83990
Tel: 33 4 94 97 14 70

http://www.viproom.fr/

The southern branch of the nightclub on Paris ' s Champs Elysées has a doppelgänger crowd: curvy young blondes in designer gear being ogled by slightly older men with sunglasses pushed back on their heads. Many visitors feel comfortable here, assuming they ' re cool enough/well-dressed enough/beautiful enough to get in.
There is always some celebrity there (apparently the difference is that most celebrities are paid to come to VIP while they go to party to Le Caves). On the days I was there we had Black-Eyed-Peas on our table first night, Simon Cowell from American Idol and singer Ne-Yo the other one.

VIP NIght Club

SATURDAY
Day
NIKKI Beach

Plage de Pampelonne
Ramatuelle
Tel. 33 4 94 79 82 04
www.nikkibeach.com/sttropez

Hangout of the same supertanned, blonde-streaked, designer-clad Euro crowd who spend winter roosting at the original Nikki Beach in Miami or the St. Barths branch. Disco music thumps away all day long, and the young rich get their kicks by spraying one another with bottles of icy bubbly. Expect men in leopard-print posing cups (think Speedos, but much, much smaller) and topless women in white cowboy hats.
For parting during the day this is my favorite one! Love the music, white beds and yes, I was topless in white cowboy hat to.... :-)
Bring your best bikini, actually even more than one! The best way to enjoy the place is to get a bed an order magnum bottle of ROSE! The best - most crazy time is between 6 and 8 pm where everyone gets on the bar, dances and the most common sound is the pop of Champagne corks...

NIKKI BEACH
Evening

VILLA ROMANA Restaurant
Chemin des Coquettes
83990 St.-Tropez
(33) 4 9497 1550
website

A culinary institution of brashness and old-school Italian cuisine has been a meeting point for St. Tropez elite for over 20-years. With an abundance of gold-leaf furniture and mythical oil paintings, the setting could just as easily be in Las Vegas or a Versace store - if not for the crowd. Dining room full of celebrities ranging from Vin Diesel to George Clooney. Serving up seriously delicious Italian food, the restaurant attracts a post-tanning party crowd of 50-something's and their 20-something companions out to eat and be loud.
Wear your skimpiest skirt and enjoy some of St Tropez's messiest and most entertaining people-watching whilst dining on seriously-delicious Italian cuisine.

Place des Lices
St Tropez, 83990
tel: 04 94 97 52 66
website

The Maison Blanche is a small, elegant hotel housed in a 19th century villa. Superbly located near St Tropez's Place des Lices, it has been renovated to create a stylish and sophisticated hideaway, a place of understated grace rather than OTT luxury. This grown-up atmosphere continues in the bar area. Here only champagne is served, both by the glass and by the bottle.

There are really only 2 clubs in ST.Tropez; VIP and Le Caves so after 2 days you have to repeat...

LE CAVES Night Club

SUNDAY
Day

I know... you are getting tired...I did to :-) Sunday is good day to take it a bit easier and go to more chilled places.

LE PALMIERS
Beach Club
Route de l'Epi, Ramatuelle
(33) 04 94 798 270

This All-white social club with top-notch dining room is THE place to be on Sunday!
An all-white oasis is awash in tanning beds, tufted outdoor furniture and clubby restaurant seating. It offers a sophisticated daytime social club mostly free of Platinum Card posing and Crystal showers. It is more quiet than Nikki but more classy at the same time. And its considered one of the best restaurants on Pampelonne Beach.
And I loved the lounge music! The CD Pia bought me there is great!

By the way the place is very close to Nikki Beach (same parking place) so in case you will want to have last crazy drink you can always pop by NIkki!
